The best time to test for ketosis

One big advantage of using KETOSCAN Mini is that it reads your ketone level in real-time. To ensure the ketone test is as accurate as possible, it’s important to time it right.

Using advanced breathalyser technology, KETOSCAN Mini detects ketones (as acetone) in your breath as accurately as a blood test. The reading displayed on your KETOSCAN Mini is PPM (parts per million).

Follow the guidelines below to ensure you are getting the most accurate ketone reading and to preserve the accuracy of the electrochemical cartridge inside KETOSCAN Mini.

Refrain from doing any of following for 30 minutes before taking a test

  • Eat or drink
  • Smoke
  • Chew gum
  • Brush your teeth
  • Use mouthwash

Allow KETOSCAN Mini to check itself prior to testing

This unique self-diagnosis feature displays as a countdown on the LED display and will not usually take longer than 60 seconds. You won’t see it perform this check every time, especially if you are ketone testing frequently.

Test yourself regularly at the same time of day

Consistency is key. If you are ketone testing daily, try and test yourself at roughly same time each day. Use the Ketoscan app to keep a food diary and see how what you eat affects your ketosis level.

How do your results look? We’d love to see them – tag us @ketoscanuk on Facebook or Instagram.
